2010 Exhibitions

Elly Nordskog and Centenary Exhibits

From November 2010, Sydney L. Moss Ltd. has two Japanese exhibitions on view, in celebration of the company's centenary year.

The first is a wide array of sagemono from well-known Californian collector Elly Nordskog. Her meticulously selected inrō, ojime and netsuke ensembles, as well as her remarkable pipecase collection, are on display, accompanied by our latest, and most lavish, Japanese catalogue celebrating the collection, ‘They Are All Fire and Every One Doth Shine’.

Alongside Elly Nordskog’s collection, works from our soon-to-be-published centenary catalogue ‘100 Years of Beatitude’ are also displayed. This exhibition includes paintings, sculpture, lacquer and selected sagemono with a focus on the underrated master Ogawa Haritsu (1663 - 1747).

Euronetsuke

London Netsuke Symposium

5th to 8th November 2010

The symposium will be held at Dartmouth House in Charles Street, Mayfair,  home of the English Speaking Union, and will coincide with the annual Asian Art in London week. There will be a full programme of lectures and workshops by  familiar and less familiar speakers and hopefully some presentations that will provoke lively discussion and general participation. In the afternoons you will be able to browse the exhibitions of participating UK and international dealers.

Very competitively priced rooms have been reserved for symposium delegates at the Washington Mayfair Hotel, a moment's walk away from Dartmouth House. The newly modernised hotel offers comfortable accommodation with free wifi in every room and is ideally located for the restaurants and pubs of historic Shepherds Market, close to Green Park tube, Piccadilly and Bond Street. Twenty years have passed since the last London netsuke convention and for several delegates this will be their first such event.

Capacity at the English Speaking Union is limited, so we urge you to make early reservation in order to avoid disappointment. Registration forms can be found at the euronetsuke website.
