A large painting by Kawabata Gyokusho [川端玉章] (1842–1913) in ink on silk making a strong use of negative space to depict the roiling waters of a rushing waterfall, perhaps Nachi on the Kii peninsula. At the top right corner of the painting a spray-pounded rock protrudes through the waters dripping ink. To the lower left the painting is signed Kinoe-tatsu natsubi sha Gyokusho, dated 1904, with two seals of the artist.
